About me

Hi, I'm Dylan

I'm a generalist who's happiest doing the work that keeps a company running, so the people who build the product can keep building.

I work with small businesses as a hands-on operator: I can run your HR, IT and finance, manage projects from start to finish, and keep you on the right side of the regulations that apply to you.

Where I really shine is contracts. I make sure they're managed efficiently from drafting, through signature, through monitoring — so deals close faster and nothing renews or expires by surprise.

My background

Before Sweaty Yeti, I spent more than a decade as an operations and investment executive. At Umbono Capital, a South African investment group, I became VP: Operations and director of its North American natural resources assets, including mineral exploration in northern Canada, and oil and gas production in the Midwest.

During this period, and then since starting Sweaty Yeti in 2015, I have helped set up and improve more than a dozen start-ups and early-stage companies — usually by tightening how people communicate, or by putting in practical technology that pays for itself. My focus is in hard-goods and natural resource industries.

More recently, as a founding team member and chief information officer at Celerity Craft, I stood up the finance, HR, contracts, compliance and grant programs, then handed each one to a specialist once it was running smoothly. It's the same work I now do for technical founders.

Why the name?

Sweaty Yeti

The business side is real work, and somebody should be happy to break a sweat on it — so you don't have to. The yeti came along from my years organizing trail runs and ultramarathons in the BC mountains, where the work that makes everything run smoothly happens out of sight.
